Our program is specifically designed to meet the complex needs of patients with cognitive decline and their caregivers. We offer:
Medical & Nursing Support
Regular in-home visits from dementia-trained hospice nurses
24/7 on-call nurse support for urgent needs or behavioral changes
Symptom and comfort management, including pain, agitation, or difficulty swallowing

Homeless Hospice Care Program
At Bright Source Hospice, we believe that every person deserves peace, comfort, and dignity at the end of life—regardless of their housing status. Our Homeless Hospice Care Program is designed to support unhoused individuals with terminal illnesses by delivering hospice services wherever they are: in shelters, transitional housing, supportive housing facilities, or on the streets. Immediate Support After Passing
Notification and coordination with a mortuary of the family’s choosing
Confirmation of legal death documentation by hospice personnel

Respite Care Program
At Bright Source Hospice, we recognize that caregiving is an act of love—but it can also be physically and emotionally exhausting. Our Respite Care Program provides short-term relief for family caregivers by temporarily transferring the care of their loved one to trained professionals. This break allows caregivers to rest, attend to personal needs, or simply recharge, knowing their loved one is in safe and compassionate hands. Caring for yourself isn’t selfish—it’s essential.
What our Respite Care Program Include?
Temporary Inpatient Care
Up to 5 consecutive days of care in a Medicare-approved facility
24/7 supervision by hospice-trained nurses and staff
Pain management, symptom control, meals, hygiene support, and comfort measures
Continued coordination with the hospice medical team to maintain continuity of care
Caregiver Relief at Home
For some families, respite may be provided in the home by hospice aides
Offers relief for several hours a day over short periods (as resources allow)
Designed for caregivers who need a temporary break without relocating the patient
Transportation Coordination
Assistance with arranging transportation to and from the respite care facility
Communication between Bright Source Hospice, the facility, and the family at all times
Support for Families During Respite
Check-ins from social workers or chaplains if emotional or spiritual support is needed

Respite care is available to any patient under our hospice care whose primary caregiver needs short-term relief. This benefit is especially helpful for:

Family members experiencing burnout, illness, or emotional overwhelm
Situations where travel, important events, or emergencies arise
Medicare and Medi-Cal typically cover 100% of respite care services for eligible hospice patients.
